DJ Sonic - Resident producer, DJ, musician and general audio acrobat at E13 Music.

For over 20 years, Sonic has worked in the music industry with a unique specialism in dance music. From the early days of house and hip-hop, through to dubstep and trap, Sonic has constantly strived to provide and outstanding musical experience whatever the situation. With a background in studio and live sound production, turntablist skills and an awesome live show, 1998 saw DJ Sonic sign to Rumour Records with releases in Goa Trance and Acid Techno. After a few years learning new techniques and tricks, 2015 sees DJ Sonic back on the dex and spreading his inimitable vibe to a whole new generation of selectors, break beat manglers and laptop remixers.

“I’ve constantly strived to provide a unique musical experience whatever the situation. As a musician, I have always added more to the mix than just a tune. In the beginning, I used my custom built Sonic Sound System and incorporated studio elements alongside the standard DJ technology of the time. I began my DJ career by playing house parties, small events and raves in Essex before moving to Guildford. Regular work at The University Of Surrey, Guildford Campus Radio and underground group Poodle Chaos gave me my first taste of playing to a much bigger audience. Further DJ work followed with residencies for various Sound Systems, dance music radio stations and well known club brands.” DJ Sonic

I also host my own bi-weekly radio show on
EarthDanceRadio covering funk, soul and emerging music from around the world. With exclusive content, interviews and gig listings, Sonic Selections brings a whole bag of fun and music to the family at EDR.

Electric Fringe is a guitar led project firmly rooted in gritty, accessible lyrics with a dash of humour, written by frontman Marcus Barr. Sonic provides an added funk lo-freq accompaniment on bass, and Valentine drives the fine tuned beats home on drums and percussion.
The band have a jaunty, old time music hall style and are creating an updated re-incarnation: The Urban Music Hall sound. His choppy rhythmic guitar and dense lyrics draw influence from Ian Dury and Billy Bragg, while Sonic and Valentine provide a creative musical backdrop to complete a sound that is uniquely Electric Fringe.
